Bryan Dabo hailed the togetherness in the Fiorentina dressing room as he reacted after scoring the winner in the Viola’s 3-2 win over Genoa at Marassi on Sunday afternoon.

"It was a great moment for me because your first goal is always important," he said. "I thought about my family and the team, because this isn’t just a team – it’s a family. We always chat together, with the staff too. I’m really proud to play for this team."

It was a rip-roaring affair in Genoa, with Fiorentina taking the lead only to find themselves tasked with battling back from 2-1 down to win.

"It was an exciting game and a really important one for us," said Dabo. "We have two games left now against Cagliari and AC Milan – they’re going to be two finals. The team worked really hard all week. We have belief and spirit and a lot of unity, which you can see when we celebrated the goal. It was massive today."

Dabo saw a great chance go begging with the scores at 2-1 as his shot cannoned back off the post, with the Frenchman admitting it seemed as if Fiorentina were not going to get the result they so desperately wanted.

"I thought it wasn’t going to be our day – God didn’t want us to score," he said. "We always tell each other that you can never say never in a football match and that’s the truth because we scored soon afterwards. We just need to work hard and be humble."

Asked whether the team truly believes it can snatch a Europa League place, Dabo replied that the players are simply concentrating on winning their next match.

"It’s tight but we’re just focusing on winning our remaining two games because that will give us a chance of qualifying for the Europa League," he said. "We’ll take it game by game. I think the whole city of Florence will turn out for the Cagliari game – we’re desperate to get the win."
