Indomitable Viola beat Juventus to reach U19 Scudetto final!

Fiorentina U19s are through to the final of the Primavera championship following a dramatic shootout victory over Juventus in the semi-finals.

The match had finished 1-1 after extra time as the Viola valiantly battled back from a goal down with ten men to upset the odds.

Their reward is a Scudetto showdown with Roma or Inter next Sunday.

Trailing to Luca Clemenza's first-half strike, Fiorentina's task became that much more difficult in the 70th minute when Riccardo Baroni was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Juventus had several chances to extend their advantage on the counter as Federico Guidi's side pressed for an equaliser, but Michele Cerofolini stood firm in the Viola goal.

Then, with hopes fast fading in injury time, Gabriele Gori drew a foul in the Bianconeri box and the referee pointed to the spot. Riccardo Sottil stepped up to fire a firm finish into the bottom corner and send the tie to extra time.

The 30 minutes came and went without a winner, so it had to be decided from 12 yards.

Sottil, Luca Mosti and Gaetano Castrovilli all converted for the Viola while Cerofolini first beat away Mehdi Leris's spot-kick then outsmarted Moise Kean to make the easiest of saves as the Juve striker tried to pull a Panenka.

Gabriele Gori was handed the chance to seal victory for Fiorentina and he made no mistake, sparking an explosion of purple around the stadium.

Fiorentina will learn who their opponents will be in the final - at Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia on Sunday 11 June (18:00 CEST) - after the second semi-final between Inter and Roma on Thursday night.
