Primavera: Fiorentina crush Roma 3-0 at the Franchi

Fiorentina Primavera produced an impressive performance to beat Roma 3-0 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Saturday.

First-half goals from Pedro and Bobby Duncan gave the Viola a 2-0 lead going into the break, with Edoardo Pirozzi adding a third in the second half to complete a comfortable win for Emiliano Bigica’s side.

"It was an exciting game," said the Viola coach after the match. "It was really end to end in the opening stages because we were attacking with four or five players and they were breaking in numbers – and vice versa. I was a little concerned about our balance at that point because both teams could have scored goals, but thankfully we were able to get a two-goal lead. Roma tried to get back into it in the second half but I have to say that we defended well and showed real determination."

Bigica also praised the solidity shown by his team at the Franchi.

"The lads knew how important this game was and playing at this stadium gave them added motivation: it always brings back good memories for us," he said. "I’m pleased with the result and especially with the fact that we kept the clean sheet. As the game wore on, despite the fact that we were playing with four or five attacking players, we seemed to have struck the right balance."
