Marco Meli was the hero as Fiorentina U19s beat Empoli 3-2 to clinch a place in the Viareggio Cup quarter-finals.

The Viola twice fell behind but Riccardo Sottil, from the penlaty spot in first-half stoppage time, and Gabriele Gori, with a brilliant long-range effort midway through the second half, restored parity. Meli then sealed victory when fired home from close range 10 minutes from time.

Emiliano Bigica's side will face Sassuolo in the quarter-finals at 17:00 CET on Friday.
